Review - Magyk

I recently finished Magyk by Angie Sage. tjis was the first book in the Septimus Heap series. I loved this book. I thought the plot moved along, was imaginative and kept me guessing what would happen next. I am really looking forward to reading the sequel, Flyte to see if it is as good and if the rest of the series is as good. It is certainly a popular series at the library.

Here's the plot (courtesy of Good Reads): "The seventh son of the seventh son, aptly named Septimus Heap, is stolen the night he is born by a midwife who pronounces him dead. That same night, the baby's father, Silas Heap, comes across a bundle in the snow containing a new born girl with violet eyes. The Heaps take this helpless newborn into their home, name her Jenna, and raise her as their own. But who is this mysterious baby girl, and what really happened to their beloved son Septimus?"

I have already started on Simon Bloom: Gravity Keeper by Michael Reisman.

Palisades State Park

After work Friday we packed up Harvey the RV and headed out for an overnight camping trip. This week's selection was Palisades State Park, in Central Utah just outside of Sterling and south of Manti, home to the oldest operating LDS temple.

We took US 89 through Fairview, Mount Pleasant and Manti. It was a very nice drive. We encountered rain which lasted until we reached the park and finished the hookups. It was super relaxing to sit and listen to the rain pour down on the roof of Harvey. Just before sunset it cleared up and we had a nice sunset.

During and after the rain

I camped at Palisades State Park several years ago with my tent trailer, taking my brother and his family. It has a golf course, driving range and nice reservoir. The upper sites we camped in looked fairly new and they even had accessible cabins.

Saturday morning we enjoyed a nice breakfast followed by a walk around the campground. We took a different route on the way home, this time through Gunnison, Levan, and Nephi. We even found a little diner in Nephi called Reed's Drive In. Very good food and a fun place to take Reed for his next birthday!
