2015 Christmas Cruise, Day 0

Today marks the first day of our 2015 Christmas vacation.  This and the next 17 days are being written in November, 3 weeks before the cruise starts.  We hope this provides a record of where we are each day.  When we return, we will update each day with more detail and pictures.  We have limited Internet connectivity aboard the ship so won't be doing much updating until we come back.

Today we traveled from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles.  Weather in Utah was good, so we did not have to spend the night in Salt Lake City but left directly from Provo.  Instead of driving to Salt Lake, we drove all the way to Orem, about 5 minutes away and parked at the Front Runner station, the commuter rail line that runs from Provo to Ogden.  In Salt Lake we transferred to the light rail train out to the airport.  There were lots of BYU students going to the airport as well, since they were now out of school and wanted to go home for some reason.  Needless to say, the trains were full of luggage!

We meet up; with Dorie at our hotel near the airport.  Jimmy had gone to ohio with his Dad.  It was great to see Dorie again and have the evening to visit with her.  We thought we might make it out to Venice Beach for dinner, but we opted for dinner at the hotel casual restaurant.

We stayed at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott;  5855 West Century Boulevard . Los Angeles, California 90045 USA; 1-310-641-5700.  It was a very nice hotel.  It was also one of the hotels Princess Cruises uses when booking cruises and hotel packages through them.  So in the future, we wont have to worry about going back to the airport to catch the shuttle to the port if we use their booking service.
