Our first trip to Disneyland in 2016 included spending time with family, DeeAnn's sister Dorie and her nephew Jimmy (Dories son). It was great to see them and spend time with them. I think we all needed the get away and what better place is there to get away?
We arrived a day before and was able to do a few things together. This also provided us to check out a couple of spots in the park that we had not been at before, if you can believe that.

Found a quiet spot for lunch (rare in Disneyland). It was behind Harbor Cafe (where they also have sourdough soup bowls and salads) |
Its always nice to go to California when it's winter in Utah. We rode the train up to the airport, saving a ton of money on parking but once we arrived in California, we were able to stow our coats for the return trip.

There is some changes happening in the parks. First, the Aladdin show, one of our favorites, has been taken out and is being replaced by a play based on the movie Frozen. It will be fun to check out what they do and some of the special effects they come up with. We are hoping the the play is an enjoyable as Aladdin has been.
They are also making a new land based on Star Wars. It will be replacing the petting zoo, barbecue restaurant and some offices behind the park. They are also rerouting the ships in the lagoon, and changing the train tracks that circle the park.

We stayed at the Staybridge Suites, a new hotel that is near the convention center. There is a CVS right on the property, making picking up a snack, water, or sundries pretty easy and quick. We asked for an accessible room and finally got one on our third try. Apparently the hotel staff didn't realize what an accessible room was!

It was crowded in both parks, but we were able to do a lot. We also enjoyed a dinner at Carnation Cafe and soup bowls at Pacific Wharf cafe. We even got to ride the Toy Story ride twice, since there was no one waiting for the accessible car.
