Train/California Day 4

After the aquarium, Dorie and Jimmy headed back home and we head north on highway 1 to Santa Cruz where we spent the night at the Fairfied Inn.  After a good night's sleep, we up the coast to visit the Ano Nuevo State Park, hoping to see the elephant seals.  They were there, but impossible to get to with a wheelchair (unless we called to make prior arrangements, something we didn't know about.  But the ranger let us into the park free and we visited the small museum and took pictures of the beautiful coastline.

Coastal Views

After enjoying the coast, we headed back down to Santa Cruz and then north to the Henry Cowell State Park and the redwoods there....a glimpse of what the "real" redwoods look like up in the Northern California.  The park was very gorgeous with its nicely wheelchair accessible trails and we were awestruck with the massive trees.

Small "train" village at the Park

The trunk of this tree was massive.

Tried to caption the enormous heights of these trees.

Nice accessible trails.

Anyone up to counting the rings?
