Hawaii, Day 16

Today is Friday, January 3rd, our 15th day on the cruise (and last full day), and 16th on our vacation.

It was our last day at sea.  We packed and generally got ready for our departure. DeeAnn went to see the passenger (adult) talent show.  Most of it was pretty good, some of it quite corny.

This passenger sang a beautiful rendition of "It's A Wonderful World."

We learned a long time ago that we should not navigate, or even attempt, the hallways on the way to dinner.  One of the nice features of the Grand Princess is that the cabin hallways are wide enough for their cleaning carts (which are almost always out) and a wheelchair.  There are sometimes tight squeezes but the crew do a pretty good job of keeping the carts off to the sides.  It is not always the case on other cruise lines or even other Princess ships.  And with suitcases in the hallways, it is impossible to get down the highway.

Our dining room is the Botticelli, which is only accessible from 2 elevators on the whole ship.  It can take a long time to get to dinner so we have learned 1) be patient and 2) go to dinner early.  We also discovered that sometimes it is easier to go up to the top floor, catch one of the 2 elevators that services the dining room, then go down.  After dinner we don't really have any chose but to wait for the elevator.  Princess has redesigned their newer ships to prevent this but on the Grand we didn't have much of a choice.

We bid good bye to our dining mates.  They were very pleasant to be with and a fun group.  We will miss them.
