Alaska 2014

For the second time, we decided to take a cruise to Alaska.  We flew into Seattle.  It's always fun to carry a coat in August that was later needed.

This cruise was on Norwegian, aboard the Jewel.  We noticed a few differences in CCL from the other cruise lines we have been on:  Better access to the dining room (used a elevator dedicated for the disabled), room was not quite as large (pity us?), hallways were kept clear of cleaning carts so we could easily get up and down them, bridge viewing room, not as much help in the buffet.

It was a beautiful ship, very colorful.  Staff were very considerate though we didn't feel they were as warm as other times we have cruised.  We visited a new port, Ketchikan that we had never been to before.  It was a very cute city, one we decided to explore on our own.

One of the nice things is watching the sunsets.

Ketchikan, the first port we visited

Jewel had a bridge viewing room so we could see what the bridge looked like.  Pretty efficient and tidy.

Kent's nachos, lunch in Ketchikan.  Cruise meals are pretty much the same each day so it's always nice to take advantage of local restaurants, even if they might not be free food like on the ship.
