For Labor Day weekend, we took a fun road trip...destination, Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield, California. Hey, why not? The trip out included a quick stop to look at the Salt Flats off of I-80. Then, as were going through Reno, we stopped to look at the Reno LDS Temple. Very pretty as always. Our first stop was Boomtown to spend the night.
We stayed a night in Boomtown, which is just out of Reno. It's an old nostalgic mining area that has been turned into a fun tourist stop. We ate at a 50's style restaurant and had slept at their hotel for a night. Pretty fun stop to break up the trip.
Next it was off to California and the Sierra Nevada Mountains....a very pretty drive!
Knew we were in California when we saw the palm trees!
The Jelly Belly Factory. Quite fascinating actually to see how those little tasty candies are made. We had a fun tour and ate lunch at their cafe.

Before heading home we visited the Sacramento LDS Temple....which is actually in Rancho Cordova. The grounds there are absolutely gorgeous and really added to the Temple's beauty.
All too soon we were on our way home but again got treated to some very pretty scenery driving through the Sierra Nevadas.
