Disneyworld 2007 - Animal Kingdom and Epcot (again)

After bidding Dorie and Jimmy goodbye the night before, we ventured to two parks - Animal Kingdom and Epcot. We thought we would just see how much time we wanted to spend at AK and then catch a bus over to Epcot.

Of course, one of our favorite all-time rides is the Kilimanjaro Safaris. It is always amazing to see the animals that close up in an environment more natural than Hogle Zoo.

It was fun when we came around one corner and the giraffes were almost within reach. They are definitely beautiful animals. Oh, and tall too!

After the safari ride, we wandered around the park, stopping here and there, at whatever sounded fun. "It's Tough to be a Bug" is located inside the giant Tree of Life. As you walk down the path, you notice how hundreds of animals have been "carved" into the tree. It's pretty incredible how they have incorporated everything.

For the first time, we saw the show "Finding Nemo - The Musical". Very impressive. Some of the special effects they were able to do on stage were fun. The story is pretty much the same as the movie. But we still like the Aladdin show at Disneyland better.

And we saw a bird show featuring a number of birds, including the bald eagle shown below.

We found a little spot to eat and even though the wheelchair seating area was taken by others not in wheelchairs, we enjoyed a little more secluded area to enjoy our barbecued sandwiches. Not too bad.

So then it was off to the bus stop to catch a shuttle over to Epcot. This time, unlike Saturday, the park was pleasantly uncrowded and we found the lines at the different food booths short. We did enjoy a few more rides such as The Living Land, The Sears with Nemo and Friends, and The American Adventure.

Tuckered out, we grabbed some food in Epcot and headed back to the hotel, exhausted.
