Up, Up and Away

To celebrate Tyler's 12th birthday, we took him to Salt Lake City for a day on the town. It started off with a ride on the train, or Salt Lake valley's light rail system, TRAX.

We rode nearly the entire route, stopping short of the end to enjoy the new Clark Planetarium. It was here we took in the IMAX movie "Fly Me to the Moon." It was a clever little animated movie about three flies that stow away on the first flight to the Moon. I was hoping it would have had more science in it, but it was okay.

Then we made our way to the Melting Pot to enjoy a cheese fondue and a main entry of steak, shrimp, chicken, and a variety of vegetables. Then it was a ride home to enjoy a little visit with the rest of the family.

Tyler's favorite moments: Getting a gold dollar coin in the change machine at the TRAX station, blowing the steam from the cheese fondue pot, and the red potatoes in the fondue. It was fun to celebrate this momentous birthday with Tyler and his family.
