New England Cruise...Day 7

Saturday, October 13, 2012
New York City

Coming into Brooklyn Cruise Terminal early in the morning.

One last picture with NYC in the background.

We took a wonderful private tour of New York City.  Jerry, our guide was wonderful and showed us so much of the city.  Below are some of our favorite pictures from our day...

Brooklyn Bridge

A very long tunnel that was UNDER the Hudson River

One of the many unique buildings in NYC

Thought this was rather funny

We visited the LDS Temple site.  No visitor center but we went up and saw the meeting chapel and family history center.

We saw many old and beautiful churches.
...and many very old cemetaries

Street view.  Lots of people.  Lots of cabs.

Radio City Hall

Times Square and the New Year's ball.

Broadway....the Lion King

More Broadway Street

New York City Library

One of the oldest buildings in New York City

More buildings

Had to get a picture of the license plates.

More city line.  Empire State Building in back.

These little food stands were all over the place.

Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange

Statue of George Washington on Wall Street
Many people were visiting this site today.

9-11 memorial fountains.

New Freedom Tower being constructed by 9-11 site.
This globe was one of the few things that survived.

One of the most significant things we did on this tour is visit the site of the World Trade Center.  Now it is 2 fountain memorials where the towers once stood.  Surrounding each square are the names of all the people who lost their lives.

Frequent mode of transportation was the helicopter.

Going down street in China district.
And thus ended a very fun week and cruise.  Our tour guide dropped us off at the JFK airport where we sat in the boring older section for 3 hours, had a somewhat bumpy plane ride home, and got back to the house around midnight.  Pets were happy to see us!
